Matter 1.3 Gives Developers New Ground for Smart Home Innovation

  • Laundry Dryers: Matter 1.3 now includes support for laundry dryers, so users can now set dryer modes, target temperatures, and remotely start or stop the appliance to add flexibility and control to laundry routines.
  • Extractor Hoods: The 1.3 specification enables cooktops and ranges to work with vent hoods, providing users with control over light and fan settings and filter statuses for optimal kitchen ventilation and maintenance.
  • Cooktops: With Matter 1.3, each cooktop element can be remotely accessed and controlled, providing users with a safer and more integrated cooking experience.

 

Besides these thrilling kitchen and laundry room upgrades, Matter 1.3 also introduces a variety of features to help users manage energy consumption.

New Energy-Focused Features

  • Comprehensive Search: Matter’s search functionality has been significantly upgraded, allowing users to search for content by seasons and episodes and view it under more specialized parameters.
  • Text and Audio Track Support: Users can discover and control available text and audio tracks for a more personalized multimedia experience.
  • Scenes: This feature allows users to create a desired state for devices, rooms, or their entire home effortlessly with a single command.
  • Command Batching: A Matter 1.3 controller can batch multiple commands into a single message to reduce delays and boost execution.
